Yesterday evening, Quixey in Mountain View played host to the Silicon Valley Cloud Computing Meetup group. The topic, “Dynamic AWS cloud deployment, monitoring and optimization” is clearly one of great interest as over 350 people registered for the event. New clouds, old challenges
Cloudyn’s very own Sharon Wagner also presented at the event and covered some classic IT problems faced by consumers of the new, cloud computing world. A few of the issues covered included:
- 58% of IT runs unmanaged cloud applications
- Cloud applications change every 2nd week
- Nearly 13% of the configuration is changed in every release
- Around 80% of instances are significantly (12%) underutilized
- Customers report that 15% over-utilization causes 7% revenue loss
